One of the newest products we offer at Broadway Fabrics are Project Kits! This is something we have wanted to do for some time, and we finally have two of our Fabric Box Kits available for purchase. Our first box, the Beginner's Sewing Kit includes fabric, notions and supplies to get you started on your sewing journey! Our second box is a fun project that anyone will enjoy: a quilted oven mitt and matching pot holder.

We're so excited that Suzy from Suzy Quilts has allowed us to use her free patterns to create Project Kits for you all! Suzy has some beautiful designs and patterns, and we are thrilled to be able to share them with you. We try to pick easy and affordable projects that everyone will love making, and this quilted oven mitt fit the bill perfectly. Your project kit will include everything you need to complete the oven mitt AND you should have enough fabric & batting leftover to make a matching pot holder. All you need to supply is your sewing machine and a few basic sewing supplies.

In addition to the pattern and fabric needed to complete the project, we also include sewing supplies in our Project Kits. In the Quilted Oven Mitt Project Kit, we will send you two supplies: a pack of Wonder Clips and a Pilot Frixion marking pen. Both of these are not required to make the oven mitt, but they are very useful and convenient. And as an added bonus, you can use your notions over and over!

The paper template that Suzy designed is included in your box. No printing required! It's all in the box. Just cut out and tape the template.

The fabric that we've selected for this project are two low volume fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics and one from Northcott Fabrics. They all 3 compliment one another nicely. We followed Suzy's tutorial and made the oven mitt using the three fabrics in a similar way as she did. However, feel free to be as creative as you wish. If you prefer to use one fabric for the entire mitt, then do it! Suzy's tutorial includes step-by-step instructions with colored photos to guide you in making this oven mitt. If you are not familiar with quilting or would like to learn, this is a great project to start! It does require a quilting foot (or walking foot) for your sewing machine, so you can quilt through the layers of fabric and batting. But don't worry, if you've never quilted anything before - it's super easy! And really fun!

We also include in your box two pieces of cotton twill ribbon for hanging your over mitt and pot holder.

Happy Sewing!
